A Year of Crafting: 2013

This is my third yearly review, and I am excited to look back over the various projects I completed this year. As before, each project will be numbered, named, and linked (if a post was written about it).

1. Pearlescent Socks (knit)
Started: November 21, 2012
Completed: January 22
Days to Completion: 62
Yarn: 75% superwash merino, 25% nylon; 425 yds
I designed this.
This was an experiment to design the perfect pair of socks for my feet. These are not perfect, but are close.

2. Carolyn’s Blanket (knit)
Started: February 5
Completed: March 7
Days to Completion: 30
Yarn: 100% acrylic; 1365 yds
This was a gift.
I designed this.

3. Birch Leaf Shawl (knit)
Started: February 27
Completed: May 8
Days to Completion: 70
Yarn: 100% merino wool; 581 yds
This was my second bout with knitted lace, and I learned that I really love to knit lace. I’ve also learned that I never wear lace shawls… so either I figure a way to wear them or I stop knitting them.

4. Collecting Shells (cross-stitch)
Started: Unknown
Completed: May 10 (approximately)
Days to Completion: way too many to count
This was a gift.
It was my goal to finish this in 2013. Happy to say it happened.

5. Abbie’s Jacket (knit)
Started: July 29
Completed: September 25
Days to Completion: 58
Yarn: 100% acrylic; 485 yds
This was a gift.
This was my first side-ways knit clothing item (the rows run from collar to hem), and I am still unsure how I liked the process.

6. AG Mittens (knit)
Started: October 18
Completed: October 18
Days to Completion: <1
Yarn: 75% superwash merino, 25% nylon; 28 yds
This was a gift.
My first ever knit mittens, and they were tiny. I imagine person-sized mittens would be easier to work.

7. AG Cabled Vest (knit)
Started: October 18
Completed: October 19
Days to Completion: 1
Yarn: 60% cotton, 40% microfiber; 122 yds
This was a gift.
This was my first time attaching hook-and-loop (Velcro) to a hand-knit… it’s not as easy as I expected.

8. AG Flouncy Skirt (knit)
Started: October 20
Completed: October 20
Days to Completion: <1
Yarn: 97% acrylic, 3% metallic; 87 yds
This was a gift.
My first knit skirt… if doll-sized things count. Also, this was my first time adding elastic to a hand-knit; this pattern used a knit casing, which I found simple to do, and the result looked quite polished.

9. AG Purse (crochet)
Started: October 21
Completed: October 21
Days to Completion: <1
Yarn: 100% acrylic; 60 yds
This was a gift.
I designed this.

10. Amy’s Blanket (crochet)
Started: May 25
Completed: November 7
Days to Completion: 166
Yarn: 100% acrylic; 2161 yds
This was a gift.

11. Sprout’s Sweater (knit)
Started: November 8
Completed: November 9
Days to Completion: 1
Yarn: 100% merino wool; 200 yds
My first hand-knit for the new Babe. 🙂 A happy occurrence for the year.

12. Striped Baby Hat (knit)
Started: November 18
Completed: November 18
Days to Completion: <1
Yarn: 100% merino wool; 66 yds

13. Four Seasons Birds (cross-stitch)
Started: November 10
Completed: December 3
Days to Completion: 23

14. Sprout’s Pants (knit)
Started: November 28
Completed: December 15
Days to Completion: 17
Yarn: 75% superwash merino, 25% nylon; 274 yds
I believe these were my first knit pants.

15. Sprout’s Summer Romper (knit)
Started: December 15
Completed: December 30
Days to Completion: 15
Yarn: 75% cotton, 25% acrylic; 227.8 yds
I squeaked this into 2013, but have not written a post about it yet.
